After being invited to attend a friend’s bonfire party on a Saturday afternoon, it didn’t really occur to me that there would be a moment to pause in worship. Kids were eating marshallows and sparklers were lit around the bonfire. Then Tim turned to me and said, “you’ve got 5 minutes to come up with a short reflection and a prayer for us all”, this is what occurred to me:
As Jesus comes to us He seeks to lighten our load and give us new purpose, for He says to us all “my burden is easy and my load is light”. Each of you, think of something which is weighing you down, then go find a stick and throw it on the fire, and allow Jesus to take that burden from you and give you a renewed purpose which is his calling on your life.
PRAYER:
Lord take our burdens from us, those things which we are not able to carry, refresh, renew us and show us the way you wish us to go with a lightened load. AMEN.
